Great economies are built on risk-taking, no doubt. But the herd mentality is starting to prevail once again in the dot com space. I lived through the first dot-com bomb, and several rounds of layoffs during my stint at Ziff Davis Media. This article from the International Herald Tribune, about the frenzied valuations of the hot digital startups, is worth reading. It's completely remarkable to hear a business owner say that no one at his company is focused on making money. Or, it just me?
